I was practicing my presentation last night (yes, only one day now until final presentation!) with my husband as my audience. I was talking about andragogy, the theory of how adults learn, versus children, when he made an interesting comment:
“In the EMS community care is split between pediatrics and adults. A common phrase used in the EMS world is “Children are not little adults.” So he thought that in terms of andragogy and adult learning you could say the opposite: “Adults are not big children.”…but what that means is that they can’t and shouldn’t be taught and they don’t learn in the same way.”
I just thought that was so wonderful that he made that connection, and it is so appropriate.
